MBFDC Player Selected For England

Well done to Joshua Storey who has been selected for the England Schools FA U18 squad – 2018/19

Josh Storey, an alumni Mounts Bay Academy student and stalwart MBFDC player has graduated through the England selection ranks and will play for his Country this season.

Josh’s interest in Football and early stages of development began at a very young age where he was regularly attending many of the coaching programmes available at Mounts Bay Football Development Centre (MBFDC). In particular, the Long Term Player Development (LTPD) programme which is still currently running on a Monday evening, played a key role in Josh’s development giving him exposure to some professional coaching at such a young age.

PROUD…

Kevin Lawrence, Centre Manager at MBFDC and Head of Football Development / Teacher at Mounts Bay Academy, has been working alongside Josh throughout his journey and is very proud of Josh’s achievements…
“Josh is a credit to himself, to represent your Country is the ultimate achievement in any sport. I remember coaching Josh when he first arrived as a youngster at the Football Development Centre, and since then he has made vast improvements across the spectrum. Those who have seen Josh play, will clearly see how comfortable he is on the ball and his passing ability is excellent. Being competent in possession of the ball is something we (coaching staff) put huge emphasis on at the development centre. Josh always had a brilliant attitude, and even now is such a pleasant young man and it is no surprise he has continued to flourish”.
“Josh has pretty much achieved everything within the County Player Pathway, he has played at grassroots level (schools and local clubs), progressed through the development centre pathway (MBFDC) and has representative honours at both District & County level. Josh represented West Cornwall Schools FA throughout the age groups including; U13, U14 & U15s, as well as receiving full County honours at both U14 and more recently, U18s. I am sure i speak on behalf of everyone that has worked with Josh, not only is he a terrific player but he gives everything and his work ethic is exemplary. It comes as no surprise to me that Josh has reached the heights he has”.
“We always say to our young players that we all develop at varied ages and speeds, you must enjoy your sport and keep trying your best. Needless to say, this is very much a reality for Josh who is now reaping the rewards. Well done Josh Storey, i for one will be watching the international games and my advice to Josh and all other players within the game is to KEEP GOING, YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE THE JOURNEY WILL END”.

ENGLAND FIXTURES…

Josh this season has been playing locally for Penzance AFC Mens 1st team and has recently moved to Helston AFC to play in South West Peninsula Premier League.
