Development Centre LTPD Squads & Trials…’Be the best you can be’!

Mounts Bay Football Development Centre (MBFDC), in association with Cornwall County FA, would like to introduce you to the Long Term Player Development (LTPD) structure that is currently running across the County.
Designed and supported by Cornwall FA, Plymouth Argyle & Cornwall Schools FA, the LTPD centre’s are designed to provide an opportunity for young players to improve, through enhanced standards of coaching and provision. This particular structure therefore targets players who possess strong levels of ability for their age.
This programme is designed to operate below professional club Academy’s and above school / club football, co-operating with them to ensure a development pathway is in place throughout Cornwall.
Our centre at Mounts Bay has been running now for nine seasons and we are the FA accredited centre for the Penwith area, we are hoping to prosper even further this year after many successful seasons where the all participants showed significant improvements across the board.
Many players have also progressed through the pathway gaining representative honors at District, County & National level, as well as signing contracts with Professional Football Clubs & Academies.
Players at our centre making progress will be linked initially to our partner club Plymouth Argyle who are our nearest professional club. We will feed players into the Plymouth Argyle – Cornwall Centre of Excellence satellite centre’s based at Brannel (U8s-U14s) and Newquay (U15s-U16s). We will also feed players into the Plymouth Argyle Academy based in Ivybridge, Plymouth (should they be able to commit). Even if they can’t commit, Plymouth Argyle will continue to monitor individual’s progress at our centre.
Schools in the local area are asked each season to nominate their strongest players for the trials. Selection for the trials on behalf of your schools is an honour and we hope you will support our objective of nurturing and providing professional standard coaching to our gifted young players.
Each season the list of selected players will appear on the MBFDC website after the trials have finished.

Players not selected…
To the players not selected at this stage, we understand that you will be disappointed. It is very, very difficult to pick out a small amount of players from such a large and talented group. All young footballers progress and improve at different ages and speeds, so just because we didn’t pick you this time it doesn’t mean you won’t get another chance at a later date. You may have also been extremely close to selection, so please keep having fun and playing, continue working hard and this way you will keep on developing.
We always suggest to all players (selected or not), to attend our Saturday morning Football sessions where we can continue to track your progress. These sessions cater for a range of age groups and we welcome everyone to attend. For more information about these sessions please click the links below (note we also run Holiday Soccer Camps during the school holidays which maybe of interest?!).
We host trials at the start of every season, all players will be welcome to the trials.
We usually start the season with a welcome information evening for all selected players and parents, however, due to Covid the welcome meeting will not be possible this season. Instead, parents will soon receive a welcome email which will contain all the information for the season ahead. It is therefore imperative we have your contact details! Please register online if you have not done so already?!
The selected squads will begin with a training session on Monday 2nd November, please note there will be no training session on Monday 26th October (half term break). All training sessions and fixtures will continue to take place on a Monday evening, age group session times will remain the same. Session times are listed below should you need reminding.
Many thanks to everyone for attending the trials, we look forward to working with the players again soon. Meanwhile should you have any questions at this stage please contact Kevin Lawrence, Centre Manager – firstname.lastname@example.org
Good luck to all players in their next football chapter.
