We are still awaiting some online player registrations, if you are yet to complete the online form please do this ASAP so we have your emergency contact & medical details. We need your contact details so we can forward you some information about the season ahead – Register Online (click here)
We usually start each season with a Welcome Information Evening, however, due to Covid-19 we feel it is best not to host a large indoor welcome meeting at this moment in time. Instead, we will provide you with all the information by email, and we will send everything over to you throughout the course of next week. It is therefore imperative we have your contact details!
Meanwhile should you have any questions at this stage please contact Kevin Lawrence, Centre Manager – klawrence@mountsbay.org
Players Not Selected…
To those players who aren’t selected at this stage, we understand that you will be disappointed. It is very, very difficult to pick out a small number of players from such a large and talented group, and you may have also been very close to selection. All young footballers progress at different speeds and stages. Indeed, just because we didn’t pick you this time it doesn’t mean you won’t get a chance at a later date, so please keep playing, have fun, work hard and you will continue to develop.
Trials take place at the start of every season, all players will be welcome to attend the open trials again next season. We would also like to invite you to attend our Saturday Morning Football sessions where we can continue to track your progress. These sessions cater for a range of age groups / abilities, providing the perfect opportunity for all players to have fun and to play more Football. Please visit the website for further information about these sessions – Saturday Mini Soccer Centre & Soccer Tots (click here)
Finally, we would like to thank everyone once more for attending the trials and we look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
Good luck to all players in their next football chapter.
Regards
The MBFDC Team

Player Development Centre Squad Trials – ‘Be the best you can be’!
Please note: Joining the Player Development Centre will not impact any existing school or Football club commitments, and instead we see ‘what we offer’ as an opportunity complementing the work undertaken already with your teams to further enhance your development.
What is the Player Development Centre (PDC) programme?
PDC objectives – To provide local talented players and goalkeepers the opportunity and pathway to progress within the County Player Pathway.
Venue – Mounts Bay Academy 3G pitch, Penzance, TR18 3JT.
Training – Selected players and goalkeepers will begin the coaching curriculum which will continue to take place on Monday evenings (term time), using top of the range equipment and facilities.
Fixtures – The selected squads will fixture against other Player Development Centres running at various locations throughout Cornwall.
Kit – A full Nike training kit package is available, includes embroidered logos and player initials.
2021/22 Annual Fee – £80.00, covers all sessions and fixtures for the season (September-June). The annual fee works out approximately £3.00 per session. Trials are free of charge and all players must attend a trial before being selected onto this coaching programme. Each season, the list of selected players will appear on the MBFDC website.
Further Info…
Mounts Bay Football Development Centre (MBFDC), in association with Cornwall FA, would like to introduce you to the Player Development Centre (PDC) structure that is currently running across the County.
Designed and supported by Cornwall FA, Plymouth Argyle & Cornwall Schools FA, the Player Development Centres are designed to provide an opportunity for young players to improve, through enhanced standards of coaching and provision. This particular structure therefore targets players who possess strong levels of ability for their age.
This programme is designed to operate below professional club Academy’s and above school / club football, co-operating with them to ensure a development pathway is in place throughout Cornwall.
Our centre at Mounts Bay, has been running now for ten seasons and after many successful seasons the players have showed significant improvements across the board. Throughout the years, we have been blessed to have so many players gaining representative honors for their District, County and Country, as well as signing professional club contracts.
We are hoping to prosper even further this season by improved links with the Plymouth Argyle Academy who are, indeed, our nearest professional club in a County devoid of a professional Football club. Players at our centre making progress will be linked directly to Plymouth Argyle should they be able to commit. Even if they can’t, Plymouth Argyle will continue to monitor individual’s progress at our centre.
Schools in the local area are asked each season to nominate their strongest players for the trials. Selection for the trials on behalf of your schools is an honour and we hope you will support our objective of nurturing and providing professional standard coaching to our gifted young players.
Each season the list of selected players will appear on the MBFDC website after the trials have finished.
Regards
The MBFDC Team
