MBFDC Awards Evening 2017/18

Thanks to everyone who came along to the MBFDC awards evening…

We hope everyone enjoyed the powerful messages throughout the evening from our guests and coaching staff, we have loved working with the players this season and have enjoyed seeing them develop so much. We are very proud that yet again numerous players this season have been pushed on further within the County player pathway, either at the Cornwall Centre of Excellence or Academy at Plymouth Argyle. Many of our players have also been successful this season with their selections for  the district and County representative teams.

It was great to have Oscar Massey (age U14) as our guest for the evening to present the awards to our young players. Oscar currently performs at district/county level and is a signed player at the Plymouth Argyle Academy. Oscar has also recently received an invitation to attend the national England training camp over the summer which is a great achievement for a local player.

Centre Manager Kevin Lawrence shared his views on Oscar at the awards evening…

Oscar is another success story of some great work being produced locally, he has a very bright future ahead and has very quickly progressed through the pathway. I feel it is always very powerful to showcase the success of players like Oscar at the awards evening as it makes it very real for our younger players, only a few seasons ago he was apart of the development centre structure himself.

Myself and Frazer Cadman (MBFDC & West Cornwall Schools FA Coach) first came across Oscar when he was only 11 years of age, he was present at the district trials for West Cornwall Schools FA where he was selected for the U13 representative team. It has been an honour to manage him and watch him flourish since then.

It was clear back then he had potential and he has not looked back since recommending him to our good friends and nearest professional club/Academy – Plymouth Argyle. Oscar is now apart of a strong list of alumni players that have leaped forward within the game. We wish Oscar the very best of luck at the England training camp.
